In 1998, the Soroptimist Rose Garden in front of the Riverside County Courthouse in downtown Riverside was dedicated to the County of Riverside.

SI Riverside spearheaded the rose garden project and contacted all of the Soroptimist clubs in Riverside County to join with them on the project.  A beautiful pink and yellow Soroptimist rose had been developed in 1996 and after a few years, rose bushes were shipped to a nursery in Texas.  In 1998, rose bushes were shipped from Texas to Riverside to be planted in the Soroptimist Rose Garden.

The Soroptimist Rose Garden includes a beautiful plaque with the words "These Rose Gardens are a gift from the Riverside County Clubs of Soroptimist International" with a list of all the clubs that participated.

Nestled within our Soroptimist Rose Garden, this extraordinary bloom stands as a living tribute to the spirit of service, sisterhood, and hope. With petals that unfurl in radiant shades of creamy yellow kissed by vibrant pink edges, the Soroptimist Rose is as visually striking as it is symbolically rich.

Originally cultivated to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Soroptimist International, this rose was lovingly propagated and shared across continents—its journey echoing the global reach of Soroptimist ideals. Today, it flourishes in our garden as a reminder of resilience, compassion, and the power of collective action.

Each blossom carries a story:

Color & Form: The rose’s multicolored petals evoke warmth and joy, with delicate curls that catch the light and invite admiration.

Growth & Care: Hardy and generous, it thrives in full sun and well-tended soil, blooming in clusters that mirror the strength of community.

Legacy & Impact: Proceeds from its sale have supported women’s aid initiatives and development projects, extending its beauty far beyond the garden gate.

Visitors are invited to stroll among these meaningful blooms, reflect on the legacy they represent, and celebrate the enduring grace of Soroptimist women past, present, and future.
