Since 2008, SI Riverside has annually held on our Live Your Dream: Dream It Be It Conference. This conference is an all day event designed to introduce 7th and 8th grade girls to various career opportunities and the way to achieve career goals with workshops provided by successful women in many different professions.
INSPIRE LIFE SKILLS TRAINING
Inspire Life Skills Training provides supportive housing for former foster and homeless youth.
The residents have a safe place to live as long as they are seeking an education whether at a technical school or at a college.
SI Riverside adopted the Luther House in 2016 and has continued over the years to provide little extras to help the young ladies in their educational journey such as household supplies, hot meals, groceries, gift cards, holiday baskets and letters of encouragement.
ARLINGTON TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE
BACKPACKS & FOOD DRIVES
Since 2015, prior to the start of school, SI Riverside has been providing backpacks to needy children from kindergarten through high school age at Arlington Temporary Assistance.
The backpacks are filled with the supplies that the children need to start school.
SI Riverside has also held canned food drives around the holidays so Arlington Temporary Assistance can provide families with the canned goods they need to prepare holiday meals.
The mission of Arlington Temporary Assistance is to provide assistance to families and individuals in need and to encourage them in their struggle for self-sufficiency.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
WASHER & DRYER FOR SINGLE MOTHER
Since 2013, SI Riverside has annually donated $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity Riverside to be used for the purchase of a washer and dryer for a single mother who is moving into a Habitat home.
Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes, by advocating for fair and just housing policies and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
FIRST STEP TO YOUR FUTURE
SI Riverside provides monetary donations to the Transitional Living Program administered by Operation SafeHouse to assist homeless women in pursuing their education.
Established in 2000, the Main Street Transitional Living Program is a 15 bed apartment complex with services available to older homeless youth ages 18 to 21 for up to 18 months. Youth receive continuing educational assistance, individualized therapy, financial education, employment assistance and access to medical and dental healthcare.
The Main Street Transitional Living Program provides a road map to start building a successful future while living in a caring and supportive environment.
